The Twin Cities first VISIONWALK was held this past weekend. We didn't get the final tally, but I think over 1000 people showed up. And all the walkers raised more than $116,000 (and counting) to go to research for vision disorders.

The event was emceed by Mike Veeck of the St Paul Saints and a Gopher basketball player led the walkers in warm-up stretches. (That's what the girls are doing above.)

The Team

Sarah's folks, Paul and Mary, joined us for the walk around Lake Harriet. We had umbrellas and raincoats galore...and still got wet. It started raining about .03 seconds after we started the walk and rained steadily the entire time. So...not the best for a leisurely stroll but a good reminder that this was a walk with a purpose.

The Girls

It was a wet day, but a successful walk. Thanks to all of you for your contributions. Our team, A Long Walk, raised over $2300. We couldn't be more thankful, grateful, humbled, or overwhelmed by your generosity.

The girls above still don't really understand what it was all about but you don't need to sell a day splashing in puddles to a four-year-old. Sarah and I know. And though it was bittersweet to even have to be out, tramping around the lake, we are confident that:

1. No matter what comes, these girls are going to lead blessed and wonderful lives. Not because of us, but because of the support and love and prayers we get from all of you.
2. Progress is being made and a cure is not a fever dream or science fiction. These efforts help and we need to be part of cause.

Thank you again.

Love,
Dave and Sarah
